GRADE: 9/10/11/12 LENGTH: 2 SEM.

This introductory biology laboratory course provides a laboratory-centered study of the structure, function and adaptations of living organisms. Topics range from ecology and cells to heredity and body systems.


Emphasis is placed on biological concepts and applications which can be related to the student’s experience. This course provides reinforcement of scientific facts and concepts, stresses the development of reading and study habits, and includes practice with laboratory skills. This course is part of the college preparatory science sequence. This course requires basic math skills. Most students will take Introduction to Chemistry or Chemistry the following year. Prerequisite: Placement is by departmental recommendation.
